During Bill Gates' speech at the NAIS Conference in 2012, he stated that new technology leaders in schools must possess a knowledge of pedagogy and operational technology in order for educational technology to advance in the 21st century. This session is designed to discuss the reason why technology leadership must evolve in our independent schools. In the past, technology leaders were tasked with only the operational management of servers and hardware. As technology becomes more embedded in our classrooms, the role of the technology leader must shift to include a working knowledge of pedagogy and curriculum as well as the business operations of a school. This session will outline why technology leadership must change and how to best prepare academic and school leadership teams for this transition.
