What should you be doing right now on cyber security? What’s coming next? How do you determine your school’s exposure and risk tolerance? With limited time and money how do you choose the security actions that will provide the most benefit? At the end of the session you should have a Goldilocks solution for your school; not too big, not too small, but just right.
Session Description: Collegiate’s 2013 experience with cyber security threats was featured in
NBOA’s Net Assets Fall 2015 issue. Jamie Britto, CIO at Collegiate School, will pick up the story from there and discuss the lessons learned. In particular, he will discuss ways to determine your school’s cyber exposure and risk tolerance, technical strategies for securing email, networks, and devices, end user training strategies, and insurance considerations. Audience members will be encouraged to share their thoughts, experiences, and questions on these topics. The session will also introduce people with similar interests so they may continue to converse and collaborate afterwards. It will be helpful but not essential for participants to read the article before the session.
Harker School had a more recent experience with the locky variant of the CyberLocker ransomware family. Dan Hudkins will join the presentation to share Harker's experience and the results of their “Department of Lessons Learned” meetings.
